Turku was one of the Cultural Cities of Europe in 2011. I was once asked how I would find the photographs that Peter Piller had taken of the city of Bonn during his Peripheria Walks. From the conversation following that question I developed a concept for a series of pictures about Turku which should have the character of portrait as well as the character of diary.
It marks at the same time the transition of my artistic photography from film to digital. And I was just about to leave Germany and live in Turku in 2009 which gave me the opportunity to walk around and explore the city by taking pictures. Just as I had done about 15 years earlier in Antwerp. Hence the title.
